What about...
What type of coach are you?
My name is Rhonda Shaw Reynolds. I'm a Certified Allender Center Narrative-Based Trauma Care Storywork Practitioner and spiritual director.
Where is your office located? Do you offer virtual sessions?
I have a home office in Waxhaw, NC. I can also meet in outdoor, private spaces, meet in my home office space, and offer virtual sessions via Zoom.
What is your approach to a therapy session? What can I expect?
My approach is to create a safe and responsive space where we can unlock the particularities of your story. Together, we will connect the dots of your story by identifying themes and patterns to form a more cohesive narrative. This work will help you grow more resilient as you grieve and reclaim a sense of agency. Like a pebble dropped into a pond, the ripple effects of our stories are far-reaching.
Do you have experience with particular issues or populations?
Yes, I have experience with:
Purity culture
Family of origin and developmental trauma
Sexual abuse
Spiritual abuse
Narcissism
Neurodivergence
Medical trauma
What is your approach/style in client-therapist relationships?
I value the responsive reciprocity co-created as we engage stories of harm from the past that intersect with present-day struggles. I provide attunement (empathy), containment (safety), and repair of ruptures (healing) to attachment wounds from childhood. This approach helps bring integration and healing to long-held shame and contempt.
What is the guiding principle behind your work?
I believe everyone has endured trauma and harm, whether big "T" or little "t" trauma. In seeking to make sense of my own lived experience and healing from my own trauma, I found narrative-based trauma care to be the most powerful transformational and redemptive work. It brought much-needed healing to fragmentation, dissociation, and isolation. I resonate deeply with the methodology of change created by the Allender Center and sought more training to offer others the same opportunity for hope and healing.
Is there anything you won't do as a counselor?
This work is yours and meant to be on your behalf. You will have consent and agency every step of the way. My calling is collaborative, and I believe we are better together. If at any point you need additional help or resources I am unable to provide, I am deeply committed to collaborating with others to get you the help you need.
Do you accept insurance?
At this time, we do not accept insurance.
